I am building my career entirely around several distinct projects. The only common thread shared by all of these projects is that each is somehow related to my hobbies and intellectual interests. This project is about documenting my journey.
Most people have a single 9-5 job. Some people have a “side hustle.” Some people start a business . Comparatively few people start a business comprised of several “side hustles” with the goal of scaling each into its own business. This is my approach: “the polymath career.”
The lifestyle associated with a polymath career is inherently appealing to many: unlimited intellectual and personal freedom. The obvious tradeoff is giving up the financial safety net of a job that provides steady income.
I view this project as built-in self-reflection and iterative improvement. I expect that this project will serve as a resource not only for me, but also for others who might be interested in a similar approach. I hope to inspire others considering taking the leap and help them avoid some pitfalls.
