About - The Polymath Career
I am building my career entirely around several distinct projects. The only common thread shared by all of these projects is that each is somehow related to my hobbies and intellectual interests. This project is about documenting my journey.
My career path is not typical. Most people have a single 9-5 job. Some people have a “side hustle”. Some people start a business. Comparatively few people start a business comprised entirely of side hustles, known more pretentiously as the “portfolio entrepreneur” approach. I am calling my approach “the polymath career”.
The lifestyle associated with a polymath career is inherently appealing to many: unlimited intellectual and personal freedom. The obvious tradeoff is giving up the financial safety net of a job that provides steady income.
My goal for this project is to document my career. I view this project as built-in self-reflection and iterative improvement. I expect that this project will serve as a resource not only for me, but also for others who might be interested in a similar approach.
